Company Profile

One Source Associates has been professionally representing electrical manufacturers in the Baltimore, Washington, and Virginia market areas for over sixty five years. One Source was formed by the merger of Downie, Turner & Buress and Maryland Lighting in 2003 to form a new Vision for the Distribution and Specification Market Place.

We as manufacturers’ representatives are leaders in innovative sales techniques, educational programs, training methods, marketing concepts, promotions, design & build, and communications.

Our most valuable asset is our employees and we will continue to reinvest in their capabilities through encouraging continuing education and career enhancement skills. Our outside sales, quotations, technical service and customer service teams are specifically targeted to the market segments we serve. These teams are oriented to the distributor⁄contractor, specification, industrial and residential markets. The company is organized with product and market specialists who complement our market groups.

The combined experience of our 45 employees allows us to maintain, develop and grow in each market we serve. We are committed to maintaining an experienced outside sales force and a competent staff of customer service, quotation service, and technical service personnel.

Our commitment to our principals & distributors is to apply the proper resources through reinvestment to penetrate specific market segments to attain targeted market share, profit, and value.

THE KEY TO OUR SUCCESS CONTINUITY OF REPRESENTATION

Value Added Services

We at One Source believe that as your Agency, we offer added value in marketing and selling your products.
  • Market Analysis

This important concept makes sense only when full knowledge of a market in fact exists. One Source has this knowledge through extensive customer databases, DISC Software, long-term distributor and end user relationships, and the ability to quickly reach the market. In cooperation and with appropriate support we can attain an acceptable as well as realistic penetration level for our manufacturers.
  • Multiple Line Selling

Because we handle several compatible but noncompeting product lines, One Source creates a synergistic effect of multiple line sales. The sale of one product often leads to opportunities to sell others, creating a 1+1=3 effect, thereby increasing selling efficiencies and spreading the cost-per-sales-call over a larger product base. This strategy is effective in all five-market segments we serve.
  • Distributor Development

The systematic approach using sales teams to surround the buying influences through specifications design build, product training, application⁄engineering assistance, and installation assistance makes One Source a valued associate to the distributor.
  • Specification Development

By specializing in the development of architectural and engineering specifications, One Source can create awareness and product demand in the market at the distribution, contractor and end user level. We feel this is the Cornerstone of any successful marketing strategy.
  • Technical Experience

With specialists in specific product groups and their applications, One Source provides significant service to OEM’s, contractors, distributors and specifiers.

  • New Product Introductions

The uncertainties often associated with the introduction of new products are minimized. One Source has data to clearly define a local market, map out a marketing strategy, and utilize sales resources to introduce a new product where they will produce the best and quickest returns.
  • Promotion

One Source offers very special services in this area. In cooperation with the manufacturers, a powerful 1–2–3 punch consisting of direct ⁄ E-mail, telemarketing and direct sales calls can be provided. Our extensive database provides the targeted prospect list for these campaigns.
  • Training

One Source has invested in a training facility to educate our contractors, distributors, specifiers, and end users. This facility is also open to electrical industry groups and our principals to conduct meetings, training, and functions. This is part of our way of contributing to the betterment of our industry.
  • Communications Link

The need for passing information up and down the distribution chain is critical in this fast paced economy and changing landscape. One Source is facilitating an orderly flow of important information.
  • Financial Benefits

If you do not have to tie up funds while building & maintaining a direct sales force, this releases capital for other business activities. By utilizing One Source, a manufacturer does not suppress or underfund other activities, such as R&D, capital investments and product line development, to finance the creation or expansion of its’ sales force. Let One Source provide this expertise for you.
